World Book Day celebrations

The students of Seth Anandram Jaipuria school, Lucknow are constantly exposed to a variety of enriching experiences both in the field of academics and co-curricular activities. The school always commemorates special days that are celebrated on a global platform.

One such event was the ‘World Book Day’ that was celebrated with great enthusiasm and festive fervor on 23 April 2019. The school was decorated with festoons inspired by books and famous book characters. The celebrations began with a welcome song performed by group of energeticlittle girls. This was followed by a skit where a young girl, Meena, was inspired to adopt the habit of reading when the characters of books came alive and enchanted her with their antics.

This was followed by the students who recited famous verses from our religious texts. Inspiring words from the The Gita, The Quran, The Guru Granth Sahib and The Bible were recited. This was followed by students who enacted many famous writers and poets. The students recited quotes from famous works of poets like Wordsworth, Shelly, Mirza Ghalib and Shakespeare. Furthermore, students enacted authors like Chanakya, John Grisham, Amrita Pritam,DevduttPattanaiketc. This was followed by a foot tapping dance performance on the song ‘It’s all about the books.’

The chief guest for the occasion was Mr Viveik Pandit, a renowned author, he has penned down thirteen books and is working on his fourteenth book. He is a professor of management, a trainer, freelance journalist, blogger and traveler. He addressed the students and inspired them to become readers and creative thinkers. He inspired the students to believe that each one of them has the potential to be a writer. He told the students to believe in themselves. He advised students to enrich their vocabulary by using alternate words to the more commonly used words. He interacted with the students and appreciated their effort in putting up the programme.

The event concluded with the principal, Mrs Poonam Kochitty encouraging students to become avid readers and to constantly endeavor to enhance their vocabulary. She stressed on the role of parents in creating a reading enriched environment in their homes.
