Tree Plantation Drive

“Let’s Plant seeds of Goodness in our society”

 The students of Class IX and X took charge of the first Plantation Drive organized by Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow. This drive was conducted in co-ordination with Prithvi Innovations in Jhulelal Park on the bank of River Gomti. Our students have had a long-standing association with Prithvi Innovations as they’ve earlier contributed in the Cleanliness drive along the banks of the Gomti river, and are also working towards managing and composting the kitchen waste in the hostel. The purpose of this drive is to create a mini forest, so that the students develop sensitivity towards the environment and also contribute towards enhancing the biodiversity, thus doing something worthwhile and concrete to save our Planet Earth.

A total number of 202 saplings were planted, in different groups,on the land allotted by the Lucknow Development Authority, which included, Neem, Ashok, Gulmohar, Banyan, Peepal, Jamun, Marigold, Hibiscus and Bougainvillea plants. Our target is planting 4000 trees in the coming days. The plants were donated by students and their parents and we appreciate each one’s contribution to make this tree plantation drive a success. The students were quite excited and enjoyed the whole activity. Their sense of satisfaction was visible as most of them wanted to plant more trees, even after some of them had planted 4-5 saplings. The students also gifted some clothes and fruits to the helpers, who had prepared the ground for this drive. Each of the students left the place with a silent promise of taking care of their new green friend, they planted.

The drive could be conducted smoothly without any hassles as the good cause was also supported by the pleasant weather and a soft breeze. I thank, our Principal, Mrs. Poonam Kochitty and Ms. Anuradha from Prithvi Innovations, for giving us the opportunity, to be associated with such a good deed and rendering our share of responsibility towards our Planet and the Environment.
