Discovering Adventure Within: Seth Anandram Jaipuria School’s Excursion to Rocksport Nainital

“Adventure lies not in the external world but within oneself,” embodies the essence of the students at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow. On March 20, 2024, they embarked on a thrilling two-day adventure program to Rocksport Nainital, discovering the excitement within. The anticipation among the students was palpable as they looked forward to the array of activities awaiting them.

Set amidst serene surroundings, the camp provided various outdoor pursuits like rock climbing, zip-lining, rappelling, and guerrilla warfare. Divided into two groups, White Tigers and Red Spartans, the students received a warm welcome and thorough safety briefing from the camp staff. Starting the day with warm-up exercises allowed the students to bond with peers while appreciating the natural beauty around them. Rock climbing, a novel experience for many, proved popular as it challenged them mentally and physically, pushing them to new heights. Zip-lining, offering breathtaking views, became the highlight, instilling a sense of achievement in the students. Moreover, rappelling, another exciting activity, saw the students descending down cliffs with confidence and gusto.

Guerrilla Warfare, a game thoroughly enjoyed by the students, involved the task of making tea in groups, collecting all the resources from scratch. This game fostered teamwork, creativity, and resourcefulness among the students, adding a unique flavor to their adventure experience. Additionally, both students and teachers embarked on a trek to the Naina Peak, locally known as China Peak or Cheena Peak, standing tall at 2,615 meters above sea level. This peak offered an excellent view of the Himalayas, the vast expanse of the Kumaon region, and the city.

Each day concluded with journal writing and reflection activities, fostering gratitude and feedback from the students. Notably, students excelled in tasks like tidying their rooms, assisting peers, and displaying their best selves throughout the camp. At the conclusion, prizes were awarded to recognize outstanding achievements, including Best Camper, Most Tidy Cottage, Best Team Leader, Best Team and Best Journal.

The adventure camp successfully instilled camaraderie among students, provided a platform for teachers and students to interact beyond the classroom, and offered opportunities for skill acquisition. Overall, it was a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
